RIP DJ AM
The body of DJ AM, who was found dead Friday afternoon in his SoHo apartment of an apparent drug overdose, has been claimed and transferred to a local funeral home, TMZ is reporting.
Sources told the Web site the 36-year-old celebrity DJ, whose name Adam Goldstein, will be buried in California. The star, who commanded as much as $25,000 per performance, was found dead at about 5 p.m. after friends were unable to reach him.
DJ AM had battled addiction in the past but apparently relapsed. A pipe and near empty bag of crack cocaine was found on a bed next to his body, sources told the Post.
Tests to determine the cause of death Saturday were inconclusive. Toxicology tests are expected to take several weeks.
Police sources said the last time anyone was sure DJ AM was alive was at 1 a.m. Friday, when he sent text messages to two fellow DJs to arrange their trip to the Rain club in Las Vegas, where he was supposed to work Friday night.
