Dumb Berg....Did You Really Say That??

As we all know by now, Young Berg in one interview, singlehandedly smacked half of his listening audience in their faces by voicing his preference in light skinned women, as opposed to "dark butts" (what he referred to brown or dark skinned women as). It's sad that he is that ignorant, and probably doesnt even realize it...since he said it so freely. That is the worst kind of ignorance. So ladies...apparently if you're darker than he is....no chance at a date with Berg..I know, I know...try not to be too disappointed....

Happy Birthday DJ Cassidy

Last night I went to my long time friend DJ Cassidy's birthday party @ Cipriani. Only person (at least a non-A LIST celeb) I know who has a LINE starting @ the door to his party by 10:45p when the doors open at 11p. JUST CRAZY. Anyway, the party was poppin but I'm not sure why clubs are forgetting to blast the AC when there is a heat wave. A Lot of folks came out for Cass' bday... where to begin.... Swizz Beats, Jermaine Dupri, Diddy, D-Nice, Cassie, Nina Sky, Yung Berg, Russell Simmons just to name a few. KRS-1 performed & Bel Biv Devoe (OMG, POISON IS MY SH*T)!!!! Sidenote, KRS pulled a typical old school rapper move & didn't know when to stop! He went on for like 45 minutes when he should of been up there for 10... everyone was like GET OFFFFFFF.

Vibe Party feat. JEEZY

Wednesday night I finally decided it was time for me to hit the streets and go do my "networking" thing. Vibe threw a party @ ONO (@ the Gansevoort) in honor of Jeezy's cover. The venue is really hot but its outdoors and it was about a bizzzzzillion degrees due to humidity. It was actually funny watching all the girls try to "stay sexy" because g-d knows i was SWEATING. Anyway enough about the heat... the party was a good look... people came out to support like Jermaine Dupri, Nas, Fab, DJ Envy, DJ Clue, T.I (i didnt see him) and DJ Cassidy spun. It was nice catching up with some of the industry friends but unfortunately i forgot a camera :( soooo Getty images it is, ha!

I've been following this North Carolina rapper's grind for a few months now. I saw his mixtape "Highly Unanticipated" (hosted by Don Cannon) first, and from then on he's been popping up all over the place...The Source Unsigned hype, Thisis50.com., Allhiphop.com's Breeding Ground and then I turn on MTV and it's him...again...on TRL. Major moves mang! Congrats!

The term Hipster seems to be applied to any hip hop group right now that is young and fashion forward, and doesn't talk about money, drugs and strippers. The remainder of the Rapper Pie after that, gets the HIPSTER stamp, which is too bad, since some folks shut down when they hear a title that's overused or that they think automatically represents certain things.

Some people hear that label just the same way they will hear the "neo-soul" title and make generalizatinons about everyone this label applies to. "Oh i'm not with that incense burning stuff", or "I'm not into headwraps"...when the main thing these people have in common is that their music will tend to have a more organic sound than some of the more synthesized music.

The main thing these so called "hipster" groups have in common with eachother is what they ARE NOT doing.
Anyway, I can go on about it, but here is a mixtape where those acts address being shoved into this category. Shouts to my boys Naledge and Double O of Kidz in the Hall. Congrats on everything....!!!
